The citizenship process

The citizenship process, also known as naturalization, allows eligible immigrants to become U.S. citizens.

  • Green Card holder for 5 years (or 3 if married to a U.S. citizen).

  • Meet residence, moral character, and test requirements.

Steps to Naturalization:

  • File Form N-400.

  • Attend biometrics appointment.

  • Receive decision and, if approved, attend the oath ceremony to become a U.S. citizen.
